Machine-made borneol looks as white crystal with icy-like crack on its surface. When it is burnt, black smoke accompanied by turpentine flavor will give off. It owns the same functions as borneol.

[Place of origin] Dryobalanops aromati-ca Gaertn.f mainly yields in Indonesia, Blumea balsam-ifere DC yields in Guangdong, Guangxi, Yunnan and other regions of our country and machine-made borneol is produced in Beijing, Shanghai, Guangzhou, Tianjin, etc.
[Collection] Dryobalanops aromati-ca Gaertn.f: get dry resin from trunk crack or shear the tree to get resin, and then process them into final product. Or you can chop branch and cut them up into shatters, and then make the shatters distilled by vapor sublimation. After they cool down they will form into crystal.
Blumea balsam-ifere DC: before the days hoar frost descending, gather leaves successively and carry out vapor distilling sublimation on them. When get grey white powder (Artemisia Argyi Powder), remove the oil from Ai powder by means of expression and then refine them into crystalloid borneol in purpose-made boiler. When it is burnt, black smoke is produced but without remnant.
Artemisia Argyi is the translucent flaky crystal, whose diameter and thickness is 0.5-1.5 and 0.2-0.3cm respectively. It presents bluish white and owing to a bit of rigidity, it's not easy to be crushed when twisted by hand. Besides, it owns faint scent as well as strong pungent and cool taste. When it is burnt, dense black smoke will be produced but without remnant.
Among products mentioned above, those with large flake, thin character, white color, crispness and thick faint scent are preferred.

[Usage & dosage] Orally administer at dosage of 0.3-0.5g and it is better put it into pillbox for administration but not into medicinal broth. When externally applying it, please use at right amount.
[Storage] Seal it in bottles to prevent the fragrance from volatilizing. It is better store it in a cool place under 30℃.
